With the Dawson Academy, Dr. Mazzella learned how to diagnose occlusion problems and provide bite equilibration treatment.
In addition, Dr. Mazzella learned to take a comprehensive approach to dental care, taking the teeth, gums, and jaw into account when diagnosing patients. In 2012, Dr. Mazzella was awarded The Concept of Complete Care Dentistry Award from The Dawson Academy.

Our Dental Technology
Today there are many ways to detect dental issues before they become bigger concerns. Our main goal is for you to maintain your beautiful smile with healthy teeth and gums! We use several tools to help us catch problems that may not be visible from the traditional perspective. Some dental technology we use includes a caries detector, digital radiography, and an intra-oral camera.
The caries detector uses an LED light directed into the grooves of a tooth to detect holes or decay. Sometimes, smaller cavities are harder to detect, which is why we use LED light to illuminate cavities.
Our digital radiographs use very sensitive and modern digital sensors. These sensors only require a fraction of the radiation exposure used in older, film-based radiography. Additionally, this process is very quick and gives us a nearly instant view of your teeth and bones that would be invisible to the naked eye.
iTero scanners are intraoral cameras that use a small wand we use to capture images of your teeth. We can then display these images on our chair-side monitors to discuss with you, and store them in your records for reference. Additionally, iTero scanners allow us to plan restorations like bridges, dentures, and crowns.

As a restorative dentist, Dr. Mazzella can provide comprehensive implant dentistry to patients with missing permanent teeth. Dr. Mazzella earned a Fellowship from the International Dental Implant Association.
